Executive Board Members and Duties

Vernon Savage, PhD
PRESIDENT (One-year term)
 
  • Schedule board meetings
  • Preside at all meetings
  • Perform customary duties, plus others
  • Enforce and execute policy
  • Serves as spokesperson
  • Appointment all necessary committee chairs
  • Appoint ad hoc committees
  • Delegate responsibility to standing committees
  • Serve as ex-officio member of all committees (except Nominating Comm.)
  • Administrative business between E-Board   meetings
  • Designate E-Board members as liaison
  • Attend conferences
  • Fill E-Board vacancies
  • Sign all contracts (with E-Board approval)

Wayne Bethea, PhD
PRESIDENT-ELECT (One year Term)
 
  • Perform Presidential duties in her/his absence
  • Shadow the President
  • Assumes the Presidency the following year
Deborah Savage, MBA
PAST PRESIDENT (One year term)
 
  • Serve as an advisor to the President
  • Perform appropriate duties assigned
  • Serves as the Program Coordinator for all standing committees. As such, he/she will oversee and supervise the programs
Adriene Breckenridge
RECORDING SECRETARY (One-year term)
 
  • Maintain accurate records and minutes (for E-Board and  joint General Assembly Meetings)
  • Affix seal and execute office documents
  •  Maintain attendance at all meetings
  • Reserve space for Executive Board Meetings

Pearl Newman
MEMBERSHIP COORDINATOR (One-year term) 
 
  • Maintains the membership records for the organization
  • Documenting membership and sending out membership cards
  • Contact members when instructed to do so by the President or the Executive Board.
  • Promote faculty and staff participation in the association.
  • Coordinates with the caucus representatives and the treasurer

Formitha Hurte
TREASURER (One-year term)
 
  • Receive, record, and acknowledge by receipt  all funds
  • Provide written financial reports to E-Board 
  • Provide E-Board approved report to General Assembly
  • Investigate sources of finance

PARLIAMENTARIAN (One-year term)
 
  • Definerules of order
  • Advise President and E-Board of Roberts rules and constitutional and by-law issues
  • Maintains the Operations Manual

FACULTY REPRESENTATIVE (Two year term)

  • Liaison between Black Faculty and BFSA Communicate news, events, problems
  • Organize and mobilize the faculty to work in coordination with the BFSA
