Access and Equity

  • Identify and review issues of concern;
  • Review and make recommendations on policies and actions that impact recruitment and retention of faculty and staff;
  • Maintain an up-to-date job bank to foster successful faculty and staff career mobility.

Communication and Membership

  • Serve as liaison to campus and other agencies;
  • Facilitate the publication and distribution of all BFSA documents;
  • Promote faculty and staff participation in the BFSA;
  • Coordinate social and political activities approved by the Executive Board.

Finance

  • Assist the Treasurer in the management of BFSA funds;

  • Assist the Treasurer in the identification of financial resources and sponsors to support BFSA business;
  • The committee shall be chaired by the Treasurer and consist of the President-Elect and 2 members elected by the General Assembly.

Outreach Committee

  • Identify and determine community (JHU and Baltimore) needs;
  • Identify opportunities of interest to BFSA membership in supporting the community;
  • Design, plan, and implement outreach activities;
  • Recruit members to serve in outreach endeavors;
  • Recognize and reward volunteers (certificates, letters, plaques, etc.)

Professional Development

Chair: TBA

  • Expose the BFSA membership to pertinent topics related to personal growth and professional development throughout the academic year;

  • Expose the BFSA membership to pertinent work being done by faculty on campus in disciplines such as psychology, sociology, science, business, literature, political science, history, etc.;
  • Expose the BFSA membership to pertinent work in the above stated disciplines from area universities and organizations.


Research and Publications

Chair: TBA

  • Prepare and present to the Board for review position papers when requested;

  • Collect and analyze all information that may assist the BFSA to make a positive impact on University policies and procedures, particularly, those that affect the quality of life of faculty, staff, and students;
  • Preview the University's desegregation and affirmative action plans and make recommendations to the Executive Board for follow-up action.

Student Affairs

  • Serve as liaison to student groups, as requested;

  • Research opportunities for and implement joint BFSA and student activities.

Technology Committee

  • Ensure a coordinated implementation of BFSA IT projects and initiatives.
  • Suggest best practices regarding BFSA website capabilities and development.
  • Provide Technical expertise regarding database storage of BFSA membership list.
  • Assist with yearly updating of web-based BFSA voting application.
